When I Feel Alone – A Reminder That God is Still With Me

Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
– Matthew 28:20 (NLT)

Recently, I felt deeply alone.
As someone living with bipolar disorder, it can often feel like I’m carrying a weight that most people don’t understand. Society throws around terms like “bipolar” and “ADHD” as jokes or exaggerations, not realizing that for many of us, these are daily battles—emotional, spiritual, and physical.

I went through a heavy depressive episode recently, the kind where life feels like it’s just… too much. In those moments, I found myself asking, “Where are You, God?” The silence was loud. The pain was real. The exhaustion—overwhelming.

But in those moments, I have to hold fast to the truth I’ve learned over and over again:
God is still with me.
He hasn’t left.
And I need to press deeper into Him—not pull away.

Even when my emotions scream otherwise, Scripture gently reminds me of the promise:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
– Psalm 34:18 (NLT)

That verse hits me right where I am. It reminds me that God doesn’t pull away from me in my weakness—He moves closer. That doesn’t mean instant relief, but it does mean I’m not facing the darkness alone.

And there’s this phrase that sticks with me:
“There is no testimony without the test.”

Maybe this pain isn’t pointless. Maybe it’s being shaped into a story—my story—a story that might help someone else find Christ, or hope, or healing. But for that to happen, I have to keep trusting. Trusting God. Trusting the people He’s placed in my life. Trusting that this chapter doesn’t define the whole book.

If you’re feeling like I have—don’t give up. God is still here. Press in. Speak up. And let your story remind someone else that they aren’t alone either.
